Play the loop
You've got a few seconds: run, jump, press plates and open doors.
A time-loop puzzle platformer
Team up with your past self
Each loop lasts just a few seconds. When it ends, time rewinds and your echo repeats exactly what you did. Plan across time, team up with yourself and clear the way to the exit.

How it plays
You've got a few seconds: run, jump, press plates and open doors.
Time snaps back and the world resets… but now your echo replays every step you took.
Your echoes hold doors and plates while you reach the exit. Fewer loops, more stars.
Echoes
Every recorded loop becomes an echo that replays your moves to the pixel. Step on a plate now so the door stays open in the next loop.

Anchor
Hold Anchor to end the loop at just the right moment: your echo freezes where you left it, holding whatever needs holding.

Online leaderboard
First clear rewards beating each level on your first go; All-time keeps your best score, so every replay can take you higher. Fewer loops, less time, no retries… that's how you climb.

Questions
Afterself is a time-loop puzzle platformer. Each level is played in short loops of a few seconds; when a loop ends, time rewinds and your echo repeats exactly what you did. You team up with your past selves to open the way to the exit, across 20 levels in 4 chapters.
An echo is a copy of you that replays one of your earlier loops, to the pixel, in every loop that follows. Echoes press plates, hold doors open and block lasers for you; in chapter III they become solid, so you can climb on them.
Every loop lasts 7 to 10 seconds and each level only gives you a few. When time runs out, the level resets and your new echo joins in. Hold Anchor to end a loop early, use Retry loop to redo it without spending another one and Undo echo to erase the last one.
Yes: the demo is free. It includes all of chapter I (5 levels) and runs in the browser on your phone or computer, with nothing to install and no sign-up. The full game, with 20 levels, is in development.
Afterself is in development for Android, iOS, PC and web browser. The free demo already runs in any recent browser with WebGL 2: Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari 16 or later.
There are three boards. First clear keeps the score of the first time you beat each level, All-time keeps your best score (replay to climb) and Time ranks the fewest loops, then the fastest time. Each level is worth 200 to 2,100 points: clearing it, few loops, speed and a first try add up; extra attempts, retries and undone echoes subtract.
The game and this website are available in English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German and Italian. You can switch language at any time.
Very little. The online leaderboard is optional and only stores a nickname, a random identifier and your results: no account and no email. The waitlist stores your email and language only if you sign up and confirm. On the website we count visits and anonymous actions, such as tapping a button, without cookies or personal data.
